A walk power mower has a deck with an upwardly and rearwardly extending handle behind which a use walks when operating the mower. The mower is self-propelled by a variable speed traction drive. The handle includes a slidable handle grip for engaging and selecting a speed of the traction drive to control the ground speed of the mower. Forward ground speed is set by pushing the handle grip forwardly on the handle from a neutral position. Reverse ground speed if available is by pulling the handle grip rearwardly from its neutral position. The handle grip follows a curved path as it moves forwardly or rearwardly to flatten the path of travel of the handle grip from the travel that would have occurred absent the curved path.
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems, and methods for operating an autonomous vehicle. In some embodiments, the vehicle is embodied as a mower having a downwardly extending sidewall and a cutting blade assembly. The cutting blade assembly is adapted to cut grass along a path defining a proximal cut edge located at a first distance from the sidewall when the mower is configured in a first operating mode, and at a second distance from the sidewall when the mower is configured in a second operating mode. The mower is adapted to automatically switch from the first operating mode to the second operating mode when an electronic controller associated with the mower determines a local area of operation of the mower is free of unknown objects.
Abstract:
A supplemental monitoring and security function and system for use with an autonomous working machine such as a robotic lawn mower. The system may use cameras associated with the machine to capture image data and transmit the data to a remote computer. The system may be utilized as a theft deterrent for the mower itself, as well as provide a mobile sentry mode for surveilling and observing a property.
Abstract:
A walk reel mower has a traction frame that carries a telescopic handle assembly to accommodate users of different heights. A pivotal bail on the handle assembly allows the user to slip a traction clutch to temporarily slow the mower down when turning the mower around. The handle assembly has a resilient isolator that acts in shear to permit the traction frame of the mower to maintain the quality and the height of cut when operated by users having a heavy downpressure touch on the handle assembly. A fixed head reel cutting unit or a flex head reel cutting unit can be interchangeably carried on the traction frame using a common mount therefor. Backlapping can be accomplished in situ by using an idler wheel between a driven transport wheel and the reel of the cutting unit to reverse the direction of the reel.

Systems and methods for controlling vehicle accessories using a vehicle communication bus. A vehicle integration controller may be configured to monitor messages written to the vehicle communication bus to control one or more accessories equipped on the vehicle. The vehicle may be equipped with an accessory communication bus to which one or more accessory controllers are coupled. Accordingly, the vehicle integration controller may write messages to the accessory communication bus to control operation of the vehicle accessories. Additionally, the vehicle integration controller may write messages to the vehicle communication bus to adapt to operation of the vehicle accessories.

Autonomous machine navigation techniques may generate a three-dimensional point cloud that represents at least a work region based on feature data and matching data. Pose data associated with points of the three-dimensional point cloud may be generated that represents poses of an autonomous machine. A boundary may be determined using the pose data for subsequent navigation of the autonomous machine in the work region. Non-vision-based sensor data may be used to determine a pose. The pose may be updated based on the vision-based pose data. The autonomous machine may be navigated within the boundary of the work region based on the updated pose. The three-dimensional point cloud may be generated based on data captured during a touring phase. Boundaries may be generated based on data captured during a mapping phase.

A walk reel mower has a pivotal rear traction drum that can be selectively disposed in two different mowing positions that allow a single mower to cut grass on golf course greens as well as tee boxes with no degradation in cutting or power performance. The reel cutting unit has a pivotal rear shield to allow the rear shield to be pivotally adjusted to maintain its radial spacing relative to the orbit of the reel at a desired amount as the reel diameter decreases due to wear. The ground speed of the walk reel mower is automatically slowed during turns of the mower by a mechanical cable assembly that links a user operable throttle control and throttle reducing control to a prime mover throttle. Finally, the leverage provided by the mower handle assembly when placed in a lowered position is used by the user to more easily deploy a kickstand.
Abstract:
A turf groomer is coupled to a reel cutting unit in advance of the cutting reel and is powered by a gearbox having a rotary gear drive that is capable of selectively rotating the turf groomer in opposite directions at different speeds. The rotary gear drive is symmetrical about a plane through the axes of the input and output shafts thereof to permit the gearbox to be inverted to drive the turf groomer from either the left or right sides without requiring that two different models of the gear drive be available. The gearbox is connected to the reel cutting unit only by connecting the end of the input shaft to a shaft of the cutting reel and through a connection to a height adjuster for the turf groomer.

An air cleaner (218) system that potentially reduces debris entering a prime mover (e.g., engine 200) during removal/replacement of an air cleaner (218). In one embodiment, the engine (200) includes a shroud (204) defining an air cleaner compartment (212). The engine (200) further includes a tubular air feed port (214) defining a combustion air intake (210). The air feed port (214) terminates at an end face (213) located at or within the air cleaner compartment (212), and a lower portion (215) of the end face (213) is notched relative to other portions of the end face (213). In other embodiments, an engine oil drain system is provided that selectively positions a distal end (312) of an oil drain tube (306) at a drain position located away from the engine (200). The oil drain tube (306) may also be repositioned to a stored position, wherein the distal end (312) of the drain tube (306) attaches to a nipple (314) connected to either an engine housing or surrounding structure.
