Abstract: A releasable cord connector apparatus includes a receptive member (26) and a connective member (30) that inserts into the receptive member (26) and releases when a force is applied. The receptive member (26) couples to a headrail (18) and has a recess (38) into which the connective member (30) inserts. The connective member (30) is also attached to a cord (34) which is used to raise or lower a window covering (10). The connective member (30) releases from the recess (38) of the receptive member (26) when a child or pet becomes entangled in the cord (34).

Abstract: A device controls opening and closing of window blinds connected to a headrail. A clamping module for securing the device to the headrail includes an upper clamp member for engaging an upper surface of the headrail and a lower clamp member for engaging a lower surface of the headrail. The upper clamp member and the lower clamp member are movably coupled to each other so as to enable clamping of the headrail by the upper clamp member and the lower clamp member. A drive module is coupled to the clamping module and includes an actuator for connecting to a tilting mechanism configured to open and close the window blinds. A drive mechanism is operatively coupled to the actuator and is configured to drive movement of the actuator such that the tilting mechanism is operated when connected to the actuator.

Abstract: A solar powered window covering system is disclosed. The system includes a headrail, which includes a motor, a gearbox, and one or more tiltable slats. The PV cells slide in the tracks with regard to an amount of sunlight incident on the cells. Methods of operating a solar powered window covering are also disclosed. The methods generally include detecting a tilt of at least one window covering slat. The slat includes one or more PV cells disposed in sliding tracks in the slat, and the tilt indicates an amount of sunlight incident on the cells. The methods also include sliding the PV cells in the tracks with regard to the amount of sunlight incident on the cells.

Abstract: A system to reduce drafts in front of a window is described. The system includes a window covering and a motor and gearbox that adjust the window covering. The system also includes a first temperature sensor, a second temperature sensor, and a microcontroller networked to the motor and temperature sensors. The first temperature sensor is positioned above the window covering within a thermal convection zone of a window associated with the window covering, and the second temperature sensor is positioned below the window covering within the thermal convection zone.
