Abstract: Disclosed are a network and method for transferring media content experience from a first smart media device to a second smart media device via an electronic program guide. Each of the smart media devices are pre-configured to have a unique name which is viewable from the electronic program guide, and to establish two way communications between the uniquely named first and second smart media devices. The electronic program guide is run on at least one of the smart media devices, and the electronic program guide is viewed on a display associated with at least one of the smart media devices. A user is provided a plurality of options to interact with the electronic program guide, including the option to transfer and view the media content experience selected on the first media device to the second smart media device. Preferably, the user selects options via voice commands or manually inputted commands.

Abstract: Transmitting from a wireless router a live stream of time stamped multimedia packets from a server which is capable of providing a system time clock value is disclosed. The wireless router includes a queue for storing the time stamped multimedia packets received from the live streaming server. The wireless router also includes a processor for analyzing the priority of the time stamped multimedia packets stored in the queue, for comparing the time stamps to the system time clock value, for calculating a transmission time to a video client, and for determining a transmission window to transmit the time stamped multimedia packets. The time stamped multimedia packets are discarded if the packets cannot be transmitted within the transmission window, or the time stamped packets are immediately transmitted if they can be transmitted within the transmission window. The priority of the packets in queue may be re-sorted prior to transmission.

Then, the access point selectively provides a recommendation for a first connected electronic device in the one or more electronic devices based at least in part on the comparison and a history of responses of at least the first connected electronic device to one or more previous recommendations, where the recommendation indicates that the first connected electronic device, which is associated with the access point, transition to a different communication channel.

Abstract: During operation, an access point aggregates communication-performance information and behavior information in a wireless local area network (WLAN) corresponding to an electronic device, where the communication-performance information and the behavior information are aggregated over a time interval that is longer than an instance of a connection or association of the electronic device to the WLAN. Then, the access point provides the communication-performance information and the behavior information to a second electronic device. After receiving information about another instance of a connection or association of the electronic device to the WLAN, the access point provides a request to the second electronic device for historical information about communication performance and behavior of the electronic device in the WLAN. Moreover, after receiving the historical information, the access point selectively provides the transition recommendation in the WLAN to the electronic device, where the transition recommendation is based at least in part on the historical information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate the encryption of a device identifier using an identification property of a SoC. A unique identifier of a cable modem may be encrypted using a unique key or other unique property of a SoC associated with the cable modem. When an authentication process is initiated at the cable modem, the encrypted unique identifier of the cable modem may be decrypted using the unique key or other unique property of the SoC, thereby producing the unique identifier of the cable modem. The decrypted unique identifier of the cable modem may be output from the cable modem to an upstream controller during the authentication process. In embodiments, an obfuscation key may be used to encrypt and decrypt the unique identifier of the cable modem, and the obfuscation key may be generated using a unique identifier of the SoC.

Abstract: An electronic device that determines one or more antenna patterns is described. During operation, this electronic device may reserve N time slots in a communication channel. Then, the electronic device may provide predefined frames in the N time slots that are intended for the second electronic device, where each time slot is associated with a different antenna pattern of an antenna. For example, the predefined frames may include null data packets (NDPs), and the time slot may have an extremum value of a performance metric, such as a signal -to-noise ratio. Moreover, the electronic device may receive feedback associated with the second electronic device, where the feedback includes information specifying at least a time slot in the N time slots. Next, the electronic device may select, based at least in part on the feedback, an antenna pattern associated with the time slot for use when communicating with the second electronic device.

Abstract: The methods and systems described in this disclosure are operable to facilitate control over user access to a device configuration page based upon a reception of a verification code through an associated dial pad. In response to a request for access to a configuration page associated with a device, the device may generate a verification code, and the device may output a prompt directing a user to dial the verification code at a dial pad associated with the device. If a valid entry of the verification code is received through the dial pad, the device may allow access to the configuration page. If a valid entry of the verification code is not received through the dial pad, the device may deny access to the configuration page.
