Abstract:
A cabinet (10) for supporting items on its top (30) and removably supporting other items underneath the top (30). The cabinet (10) has an open-front base assembly (14) having two generally vertical side panels (15, 16) and defining an interior volume between the side panels (15, 16), and a top assembly (60) coupled to and slidable relative to the base assembly (14). The top assembly (60) has a top shelf member (30) and a top shelf member support structure (36) coupled to the top shelf member (30) to support the top shelf member (30). The top assembly (60) is adapted to be moved from a stowed position in which the top shelf member (30) is over the two side panels (15, 16) of the base assembly (14), to an open position in which the top shelf member (30) is at least partially removed from its position over the two side panels (15, 16) of the base assembly (14), to allow top access into the interior volume of the base assembly (14). The cabinet (10) also has a drawer assembly (12) slidably received within the base assembly (14) and including a lower shelf (22). The drawer assembly (12) is adapted to be located such that its lower shelf (22) is within the base assembly (14) interior volume in a stowed position, and such that the lower shelf (22) is at least partially removable from the base assembly (14) interior volume into an open position, to provide access to the lower shelf (22) from the front of the cabinet (10).
Abstract:
This invention relates to step assemblies and in particular, but not exclusively, to step assemblies for use in conjunction with fitted furniture such as is frequently found in the kitchen, dining room or garage or indeed shops. The assembly includes an open-mouthed chassis or carcass (15) and a body, generally indicated at (21), which comprises two dock portions (22) and (23), which are hinged at (24) so that they can take up either a flat storage configuration or a step forming configuration. For storage the body can be slid within the chassis, which sits beneath, for example, a kitchen unit, when the body is in its flat configuration.

Abstract:
A support frame assembly allows stepless vertical and horizontal adjustment of the upper and lower cupboards and the worktop in kitchen furniture. The support frame assembly comprises two interconnected frameworks, the support framework (1) standing freely on the floor comprising a support framework (29) for the worktop assembly (14), the lower cupboards (15) and the upper cupboards (19) which is vertically movable by means of a ball bearing (5) or similar slide mechanism, the support framework having brackets (3) which are equipped with ball bearing (6) or similar slide mechanisms and which support the horizontally movable worktop assembly and the lower cupboards suspended from this. The support frame assembly comprises a pulley mechanism formed by grooved pulleys (7), cable wires (8) and counterweights (10).
Abstract:
A sliding and tilting shelf drawer for storing and organizing various articles. The drawer includes a compartment that slides between a storage and an accessible position and tilts between an upright and a tilted position. The drawer also includes a base member having a pair of tracks and a pair of slide members slidingly disposed in the tracks. The compartment is pivotally attached to the slide members. The compartment has openings so that the articles may be viewed from outside the compartment and so that the drawer may be installed as a single unit. The base member has a lip for engaging a front edge of a shelf surface so that the drawer may be correctly positioned and easily installed. The base member may also be attached to a back wall to prevent the surface from tilting. The compartment may also be removed from the base member. The compartment may be formed of horizontal and vertical members. A handle attaches to the compartment and mates with the horizontal and vertical members. The compartment may have a first and a second portions so that the width of the compartment is adjustable to efficiently utilize the surface space.
Abstract:
A device for performing a two-dimensional movement of a cupboard (1) in a vertical plane comprises two guide rods (3, 4), a scissor-type link (5) and a drive means (8) for adjusting the scissor-type link. One guide rod (3) is fixedly mounted in an essentially vertical position and the other guide rod (4) is movable relative to the fixedly mounted guide rod and supports the cupboard (1). The scissor-type link (5) has two link arms (6, 7) which are mutually turnable in said vertical plane. The ends (14, 16) of one link arm (6) are each turnably connected to one guide rod (3, 4), and the ends (18, 21) of the other link arm (7) are each connected in a displaceable manner along one guide rod. The drive means (8) turns the link arms (6, 7) relative to one another and thus performs a two-dimensional movement of the cupboard (1).
Abstract:
A workstation includes a frame supporting a work surface upon which a task can be completed and/or an item can be stored. The workstation can include a drive system for adjusting a height of the work surface above a surface supporting the workstation. The workstation can also be configured such that the work surface and other components of the workstation can be moved between an in use mode and a lower profile storage and/or transportation mode.
Abstract:
An article of furniture includes a base support (2), an intermediate support (5) moveably attached to the base support (2) via a first moveable attachment mechanism, and a top support (3) moveably attached to the intermediate support via a second moveable attachment mechanism (22). The first moveable attachment mechanism (21) includes a first rotatable member (42) that rotates about a first axis of rotation such that the intermediate support (5) is rotatable relative to the base support (2) and is rotatable relative to the top support (3). The second moveable attachment mechanism (22) includes a second rotatable member (32) that is rotatable about a second axis of rotation such that the top support (3) is rotatable relative to the intermediate support (5) and is also rotatable relative to the base support (2).
Abstract:
A damping mechanism that includes a housing with an inner circumferential surface defined by an assembly outer race, an axle shaft that is rotatable with respect to the housing, and a transmission assembly operatively associated with the axle shaft and disposed within the housing. The transmission assembly includes an assembly intermediate race. A fluid space that includes fluid therein is defined between the assembly intermediate race and the inner circumferential surface of the assembly outer race. A vane is disposed between the assembly intermediate race and the inner circumferential surface of the assembly outer race. The vane includes a restriction space defined therein.
