Abstract: A dual path cutting machine (10) comprises a support frame (12) defining an aperture (13) and first and second wire loops (14) and (16) respectively. The wire loops (14) and (16) travel about respective sets of wheels (18 and 20) supported on opposite sides of the frame (12). The wire (14) traverses a cutting path (22) that extends in a first direction D1 and is moveable to at least partially span or extend into the aperture (13). Similarly wire (16) traverses a second cutting path (24) in a second direction D2 that can be moved to at least partially expand or extend into the aperture (13). The direction of D1 and D2 are perpendicular to each other. The cutting paths (22 and 24) can be moved in respective perpendicular planes to enable cutting of an object by the machine in those two planes.

Abstract: The inventive device for cutting thermoplastic materials comprises a base (1), a heatable cutting tool which is movable in vertical and horizontal planes and mounted on the carriages (7) of vertical rails (4) which are arranged on the carriages (3) of horizontal tails (2) in such a way that they are synchronously displaceable. The heatable cutting tool is provided with several cutting wires (8) or an interchangeable tool, which is provided with the specifically shaped cutting wire (8) arranged on a guide (24). An individual motor (14), which makes it possible to synchronously displace several cutting wires (8) and increase a cutting accuracy, is positioned on the top beam (5) of a movable gantry (6). A computer (21) controls the cutting of thermoplastic materials.
