Abstract:
Provided are processes of preventing or eliminating caking of particulate materials during milling operations. Processes include the addition of an anti-caking additive such as a rosin, abietic acid, fatty acid, or derivative of any of the foregoing to a mill prior to or along with a particulate chemical, and milling the combination. The addition of the anti-caking additive prevents or reduces the amount of caking observed thereby increasing yields and maintaining or enhancing the resulting properties of the milled product.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A planetary roller mill for processing a feed material includes a vessel with a grinding ring having an opening therethrough and a first area. The grinding ring is in sealing engagement with the inside surface of the vessel assembly. At least two non-circular support plates are secured to a rotatable shaft. Each plate has an axially facing surface. A plurality of rollers rotatably are mounted to and positioned between the two support plates. Each of the plurality of rollers are in grinding communication with the grinding surface. The planetary roller mill includes an air supply system having an outlet in communication with the opening in the grinding ring. Areas of the two support plates are of magnitudes which configure a flow area through the opening of at least 30 percent of the first area to provide a predetermined quantity of heated air to remove moisture from the feed material in the grinding assembly.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention involves the use of Spent Molasses Concentrates ("SMC") produced as a concentrated residue after evaporation of the raw waste water obtained from distillation of beet or cane molasses, as an extender for a polyoxyalkene polyol grinding efficiency enhancer selected from glycol, glycerol, or a mixture thereof.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to using co-grinding agent in a method for producing co-ground in water GCC and PCC, wherein said agent is characterised in that a) it comprises at least one type of partially neutralised acrylic acid copolymer whose molar neutralisation degree is less than 75 % of the totality of acid functions and b) said agent is introducible during preparation of the GCC and PCC aqueous solutions and/or during co-grinding stage, and possibly between the co-grinding stage and a concentration stage and possibly during said concentration stage. The obtainable GCC and PCC aqueous solutions, dry GCC and PCC pigments and the use of said products in paper, paints, rubber and plastic material are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions for grinding materials are provided. In an embodiment, the present invention provides a method of grinding solid materials. For example, the method can comprise mixing the solid material with the grinding aid, and using a grinding media such as steel balls to grind the solids. The grinding aid composition can comprise one or more glycerin by-products derived from a biodiesel manufacturing process. The grinding aid composition can also comprise one or more glycerin by-products of transesterification reactions involving triglycerides. The grinding aid can be added to the grinding process as a solution.
Abstract:
The invention provides high surface area talc compositions by a novel hybrid milling method of soaking method. The hybrid milling method comprises dry milling talc powder followed by mixing with water and wet milling to provide a nano-talk slurry with a high surface area, also of the invention. The soaking method comprises dry milling talc powder followed by mixing with water and soaking to provide high surface area nano talc slurry. The slurry may be dewatered and dried to provide dry nano-talc powder. The nano-talc powder provided by the invention is a novel hydrophilic talc composition. Further embodiments of the invention include organic solvent dispersed nano talc slurries and methods for providing the same. These slurries can be used to provide polymer nano-talc composites in form of coating, sealing and gasketing meterials, forms, excluded thermoplastic and thermoset sheets and film, thermoplastic pellets, thermoplastic and thermoset molded polymer composite article. Another embodiment is a polyurethane nano-talc composite article derived form the organic solvent dispersed slurries.
