Abstract:
There are provided methods and apparatus for multi-view video coding. A video encoder includes an encoder (100) for encoding a block in a picture by choosing between temporal prediction and cross-view prediction to enable a prediction for the block. The picture is one of a set of pictures corresponding to multi-view video content and having different view points with respect to a same or similar scene. The picture represents one of the different view points. A high-level syntax is used to indicate the use of cross-view prediction for the block.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for error resilient transmission and for random access in video communication systems are provided. The video communication systems are based on single-layer, scalable video, or simulcast video coding with temporal scalability, which may be used in video communication systems. A set of video frames or pictures in a video signal transmission is designated for reliable or guaranteed delivery to receivers using secure or high reliability links, or by retransmission techniques. The reliably-delivered video frames are used as reference pictures for resynchronization of receivers with the transmitted video signal after error incidence and for random access.
Abstract:
A method of encoding scalable video data having multiple layers where each layer in the multiple layers is associated with at least one other layer includes identifying one or more layers using a first identifier where the first identifier indicates decoding dependency, and identifying reference pictures within the identified one or more layers using a second identifier. The coding of the second identifier for pictures in a first layer is independent of pictures in a second enhancement layer. As such, for all pictures with a certain value of DependencylD, the syntax element frame_num is coded independently of other pictures with different values of DependencylD. Within all pictures with a pre-determined value of DependencylD, a default frame_num coding method is used.

On code des images successives (F) d'une séquence vidéo pour générer des paramètres qui sont inclus dans un flux de sortie (Φ) à transmettre vers un décodeur. Le codage de certaines images est opéré en Inter relativement à une ou plusieurs images précédentes de la séquence, ces images précédentes étant enregistrées temporairement dans une mémoire d'image (51). Des informations de retour sur la restitution des images de la séquence vidéo par le décodeur sont reçues par le codeur (1) et analysées pour évaluer un retard du canal de retour par rapport à la transmission du flux de sortie. Le codeur détermine une quantité de mémoire allouée à la mémoire d'image dans le décodeur en fonction du retard évalué, et indique cette quantité de mémoire au décodeur.

A method for processing a plurality of motion vectors for a video frame to be interpolated using a first reference frame and a second reference frame, each reference frame having a content map, the method including partitioning the video frame to be interpreted into a plurality of areas; determining a number of motion vectors passing through one area of the plurality of areas based on the content maps of the first reference frame and the second reference frame; and generating a motion vector to assign to the one area based on the number of motion vectors passing through the one area. An apparatus for performing the method is also described.

There is provided an encoder (10, 100) for receiving an input signal corresponding to a sequence of images and generating corresponding encoded output data, the encoder (10, 100). The encoder (10, 100) comprises: (a) a first-pass encoder (20) for generating a first encoded version of the input signal; (b) a local decoder (30) for decoding the first encoded version to generate a corresponding locally-decoded sequence of images; (c) a subtracting function (40) for generating an error signal corresponding to a difference between the input signal and the locally-decoded sequence of images; (d) a processor (60; 60a, 60b) for receiving image indicative data from the firstpass encoder (20) and the error signal from the subtraction function (40) to generate one or more control parameters; and (e) a second-pass encoder (50) for receiving the input signal and for encoding said signal under control of said one or more control parameters to generate said corresponding encoded output data.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method and device for encoding video. According to the present invention, a first region in a first frame is matched to a second region in a second frame. A first partially encoded frame is produced including a difference between pixel values of the first and second region. A second partially encoded frame is produced including pixel values of either the first or second region. Further, the first and second partially encoded frame is transformed into wavelet coefficients.
