Abstract:
A system includes a filter and a tuner formed on an integrated circuit. The filter receives an input signal comprising a first number of channels and communicates an intermediate output signal comprising a second number of channels less than the first number of channels. The tuner is coupled to the filter and receives the intermediate output signal and communicates an output signal comprising a third number of channels less than the second number of channels.
Abstract:
A method for tuning a transconductor includes receiving a digital value. The method also includes determining a bit value for a selected bit of the digital value, and selecting a tuning range for a transconductor based on the bit value. The method further includes tuning the transconductor within the selected range based on any remaining bits in the digital value.
Abstract:
A method of managing bets comprises auctioning a first bet to one of a plurality of clients for a first bet amount, wherein the first bet comprises a bet that a first participant will finish in a particular finishing position associated with an event. The method further comprises auctioning a second bet to one of a plurality of clients for a second bet amount, wherein the second bet comprises a bet that a second participant will finish in the particular finishing position associated with the event. The method continues by adding the first bet amount and the second bet amount to form a betting pool, and determining an amount of a payout based at least in part on the betting pool.
Abstract:
A filter circuit includes a polyphase filter coupled to a first circuit component and a second circuit component. The first circuit component propagates four input current signals to the polyphase filter. The third and fourth input current signals are substantially one-hundred-eighty degrees out of phase with the first and second input current signals. The polyphase filter receives the input current signals and generates four output current signals that are out of phase with each other. The second circuit component generates first and second output signals using the four output current signals. The first and second output signals are ninety degrees out of phase with each other.

A gaming machine (10) with visual display (15) is used to make pari-mutuel wagers via the Internet through website (72). There are a number of devices for accepting wagers and paying winnings, including Cash dispenser/acceptor (40). Credit card swipe (45) and reward card swipe (50).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for tuning a VCO circuit to provide desired modulations is described. In one embodiment, the method of the present invention uses a controlled voltage from a digital-to-analog converter to obtain VCO voltage/frequency characteristics. The VCO voltage/frequency characteristics are used to determine a VCO capacitance value as well as a charge pump current level for each frequency band of interest. For one embodiment, the VCO circuit includes a bank of switchable capacitors used to set the VCO capacitance value. The charge pump includes a number of switch-controlled current meters to set the charge pump current level. The VCO capacitors and charge pump current meters are controlled by an off-chip CPU.
Abstract:
An in-chip monitoring method and apparatus are disclosed. In one embodiment the apparatus includes a test pad, a transmission gate and a plurality of test components coupled to the transmission gate. The transmission gate is attached to a substrate and adapted to receive a code word uniquely addressed to one of the plurality of test components. In a further embodiment, the transmission gate is further adapted to relay an output of the one of the plurality of test components to the test pad, in response to receipt of the code word.
Abstract:
A double F antenna (299) comprises a conductive member having a center between a first end and a second end of the member; a first port (204) connected perpendicularly to the conductive member between the center and the first end; a second port (203) connected perpendicularly to the conductive member between the center and the second end; and a ground port (205) connected perpendicularly to the conductive member, wherein the ground port (205) is connected to the center.
Abstract:
A ground shield for an integrated component device to prevent coupling between integrated capacitors and/or inductors and other integrated components. Components are formed upon a substrate. A conductive metal layer is formed or deposited thereon. The conductive metal layer is electrically connected to ground and an isolation layer is formed or deposited upon the conductive metal layer. An integrated capacitor, for example a MIM-type capacitor, is then formed upon the isolation layer. The grounded conductive metal layer absorbs electrical noise such that coupling between the capacitor and other components is prevented.
