    Abstract: A wireless device (14) transmits, to a radio network node (12), a radio resource control (RRC) connection request (18) that requests the establishment, re-establishment, or resumption of an RRC connection (16). The RRC connection request (18) indicates a type of core network to which the wireless device (14)selects to connect. The wireless device (14) in some embodiments receives a response to the RRC connection request (18), based on the type of core network to which the wireless device (14) selects to connect. For example, the wireless device (14) may receive the response using a protocol stack determined based on the type of core network to which the wireless device (14) selects to connect.

    Abstract: According to an aspect, a user equipment, UE, in a suspended state in a Radio Access Network, RAN, in response to expiration of a first timer, transmits (1910) an RRCResumeRequest message. The UE receives (1920) a reject message in response to the RRCResumeRequest message. In response to the reject message, the UE starts (1930) a second timer and subsequently transmits (1940) a further RRCResumeRequest message. The further RRCResumeRequest message is received by the network during a period bounded approximately by the lesser of a duration of the second timer and a period of the periodic UE event and the greater of the duration of the second timer and the period of the periodic UE event.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for handling communications relating to suspending a user equipment in a radio access network (RAN) are disclosed. An example method includes receiving, by a user equipment that is operating in a connected state, a radio resource control (RRC) release message. The user equipment determines, based on an indication in the RRC release message, whether to suspend the user equipment to an inactive state or an idle state, the indication comprising a presence or absence a suspend configuration field in the RRC release message.     Abstract: A method for enabling operations for a relay node comprises receiving, at a first network node, a system information block including a first indication and a second indication, wherein the first indication indicates that a first cell is a non-standalone cell and is barred for standalone user equipments (UEs), and the second indication indicates that the first network node is able to access the first cell. The method further comprises identifying, at the first network node, whether the first network node is able to access the first cell based on the second indication in the system information block.     Abstract: According to one exemplary embodiment of inventive concepts, a UE that operates in a RAN may be configured to receive (1300) new radio, NR, radio resource control, RRC, messages from a secondary network node. The NR RRC messages may each contain a number that the secondary network node added to the NR RRC messages to indicate their respective order in a sequence which the NR RRC messages were sent by the secondary network node.     Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment a method may be provided to operate a central unit, CN, node that is coupled with first and second distributed unit, DU, nodes. Communication is provided (1501) between the CU node and a mobile communication device through the first DU node over a first radio link between the first DU node and the mobile communication device. A message is received (1503) at the CU node from the first DU node informing the CU node that the radio link is temporarily unavailable.
