Abstract: An Ethernet-type edge switch interfaces a cell-based network which transports multimedia information, i.e., textual graphical, image, video, voice and audio. The Ethernet-type switch possesses a multi-processor architecture for providing quality of service and explicit rate flow control with resource management (RM) cell priority.
