Abstract:
An intelligent Internet Protocol (IP) resolver can be configured to receive a domain name service (DNS) request from a node of an external network to resolve a domain name for a content provider accessed via an autonomous network. The intelligent IP resolver can also be configured to determine an entry point into the autonomous network for traffic originating from a mobile device identified in the DNS request. The intelligent IP resolver can further be configured to generate a DNS answer that identifies a node of the content provider. The node of the content provider can be determined based on the entry point of the autonomous network.
Abstract:
A navigation system integrated with knowledge of active emergency alerting system alert data and up to date Doppler weather radar data, to provide a visual representation of an alert area and/or current weather patterns on a map, and to automatically navigate a subscriber device away from an affected area, e.g., an alert area, an area under severe weather. The inventive navigation system displays NEXRAD Doppler weather radar data on a map by integrating a NEXRAD feed into the map and allowing a user to enable/disable the NEXRAD feed as a map overlay. The inventive navigation system also automatically routes or reroutes a subscriber device to avoid areas under severe weather. The navigation system is also integrated with a conventional CMSP gateway in an emergency alerting system to provide: a visual representation of an alert area on a map and to automatically route/reroute a subscriber device around an alert area.
Abstract:
An integrated, detachable ear bud system that is attached to an associated wireless phone. The integrated, detachable ear bud system may be one ear bud, or pair of ear buds, or ear bud or ear buds including a microphone. In certain embodiments an integrated, detachable, attached auditory device is physically connected to its associated wireless phone via an extendable and retractable electrical cord, and integrated into the case of the associated wireless phone, to forcibly keep with the wireless phone even when not in use, preventing misplacement, loss, or even inadvertent separation from the wireless device. The ear buds may connect to a recharge port on the wireless phone, and be charged when the wireless phone is charging. When in its attached home position, the ear-mountable speaker may tuck into a mating cavity. A latch or magnet may assist in attaching the integrated, detachable ear bud to the wireless phone.
Abstract:
A single search system that returns relevant search results for a user search query by identifying user intent and context implied therein. The inventive system supports POI and address searches initiated from a single search box only. Search query data is input in to a single search box on a single search client to initiate a search for an arbitrary piece of data. Meta-data concerning a nature of a search is not provided to the single search system. A search servlet on a single search server uses an ordered series of filter methods to progressively extract specific aspects of user intent from a freeform search query, and accumulate intent information within a context shared by all filters. The single search system determines a data corpus to search based on context provided in a user search query. Relevant search results are returned to the single search client in a search response.
Abstract:
A wireless device Location Services Agent (LSA) provides location functions such as reporting locations to a Location Agent Management Module (LAMM) function in a location services gateway (LSG). The LSA provides a consistent location protocol for providing single shot, periodic triggers and area event triggers. Actual position determination is performed by the native techniques supported by the handset. Location is setup via a Location Agent Management Module (LAMM) component of a Location Services Gateway (LSG) communicating with the LSA. The LSA provides for agent upgrade; SET (handset) registration to the LAMM; Single Shot location determination and conveyance to the LAMM; Periodic Triggered location; Area Event Location; and Privacy Notification and Verification. The LSA interfaces with the LAMM component of the LSG to initialize location requests, and interfaces with external location servers for actual position determination.
Abstract:
An Aggregate Location Dynometer (ALD) in a physical wireless network alerts to a problematic crowd risk using location based services (LBS). An Aggregate Location Dynometer (ALD) comprises a Network Monitor, a Crowd Risk Determinant and an Alert Module. The Network Monitor monitors wireless traffic for a potential viral event, associated with a formation of a plurality of wireless devices. The Crowd Risk Determinant requests location information associated with a plurality of wireless devices in a given area regarding a respective viral event. The Crowd Risk Determinant determines if the viral event also indicates a crowd safety risk, based on the shape and movement of observed wireless devices. The Alert Module triggers an alert of an impending crowd problem when crowd risk is above a given threshold. Historical databases are empirically determined and maintained in the Aggregate Location Dynometer (ALD) for use in viral event and crowd risk assessment.
Abstract:
A solid state drive includes one or more radiation-resistant controllers, one or more radiation-resistant low write endurance, high density, non-volatile memories for infrequently-written data, and one or more radiation-resistant, high write endurance, low density, non-volatile memories for frequently written files. Resulting elimination of the need for wear leveling and associated write amplification results in higher life time storage capabilities for these drives.
Abstract:
Text messages with alphanumeric addresses are delivered to mobiles and external short message entities (ESMEs) which do not support alphanumeric addressing, providing meaningful fallback handling. Additionally, the invention enables delivery of SMPP messages from ESME or SMPP networks which can only originate numeric addresses, yet provide for mapping to alphanumeric addresses for delivery to the mobile. A two-way mapping is provided between alphanumeric addresses and S-S short-codes to enable delivery of text messages with alphanumeric addressing in networks which contain mobiles and/or ESME's that lack support of alphanumeric addressing.
Abstract:
An N-dimensional affinity confluencer comprises an affinity table to maintain a plurality of affinities for each of a plurality of wireless devices. A sphere of influence (SPIN) table provides an influence for determination of a confluence between affinities maintained in the affinity table. An affinity confluence determination module determines an affinity confluence between the plurality of wireless devices and an influence parameter associated with the sphere of influence (SPIN) table. An affinity confluence is determined from among a plurality of wireless devices by determining a confluence of at least two predefined affinities from among a plurality of wireless devices. A sphere of influence parameter is applied to the confluence to determine those of the plurality of wireless devices defined by an affinity confluence. The plurality of wireless devices need not be within a common electrical network.
Abstract:
Automatic suspension of call and/or short text message service for a mobile device in motion. The speed of the wireless device is obtained or detected, and compared with a predetermined speed threshold to determine whether the speed has reached or exceeded the predetermined speed threshold. If so, suspension of a text messaging service is automatically triggered in response to the speed exceeding or reaching the threshold. Emergency call and/or text messaging capabilities may be retained even during suspension of service. An indication of the service suspension may be displayed on the mobile device. Suspension of the relevant service may be maintained for a predetermined period of time to provide a hysteresis so that when the device momentarily stops but is generally still in a driven situation, the service(s) remain suspended. The wireless device may permit a user to temporarily disable the suspension of service for a given period of time.
