    Abstract: A III-V/Si hybrid MOS optical modulator with a traveling-wave electrode for high-efficiency and high-bandwidth optical modulation is disclosed. The III-V/Si hybrid MOS optical modulator equipped with a traveling-wave electrode becomes a traveling-wave modulator. The traveling-wave modulator comprises a III-V compound semiconductor layer, a silicon layer and an oxide layer between the III-V compound semiconductor layer and the silicon layer. The traveling-wave modulator comprises of at least one first metallic layer, at least one second metallic layer and a semiconductor layer. The electrode trace width of each second metallic layer and the spacing between adjacent second metallic layers are adjusted to achieve the impedance and velocity matching. A traveling-wave electrode is designed to integrate with the III-V/Si hybrid MOS optical modulator under forward and reverse bias.

    Abstract: According to embodiments of the present invention, a sensor array is provided. The sensor array includes a plurality of magnetic field sensors configured to operate substantially simultaneously for building a magnetic map representative of an environment. Each magnetic field sensor may be configured to measure an ambient magnetic field at a position of the magnetic field sensor, the position being within the environment or within a working distance of the magnetic field sensor from an edge boundary of the environment. Each magnetic field sensor may be arranged spaced apart from a neighbouring magnetic field sensor at a distance such that the respective ambient magnetic fields measured by the magnetic field sensor and the neighbouring magnetic field sensor are disambiguated. According to further embodiments of the present invention, a magnetic map as well as systems and methods for building a magnetic map and for localizing a mobile device are also provided.

    Abstract: A PCR primer set, kit, and a method of detecting the presence of a coronavirus in a sample, in particular a COVID-19 virus. The PCR primer set comprises a forward primer selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID No. 1, SEQ ID No. 9, SEQ ID No. 10, and SEQ ID No. 11, and a reverse primer of SEQ ID No. 2 when one of SEQ ID No. 1, SEQ ID No. 9, or SEQ ID No. 10 is selected as the forward primer or SEQ ID No. 12 when SEQ ID No. 11 is selected as the forward primer.     Abstract: A method of preparing a patchouli extract is provided and includes the following steps. A patchouli material is grounded into patchouli powder and pelleted to obtain patchouli granules. Liquid carbon dioxide is introduced to perform a supercritical carbon dioxide extraction process on the patchouli granules, wherein the extraction pressure is about 110-180 bar and the extraction temperature is about 40-60℃. During the supercritical carbon dioxide extraction process, the extracted product obtained, based on the total weight of the introduced liquid carbon dioxide not exceeding 10 times the weight of the patchouli granules, is collected as the first patchouli extract, which includes the first patchouli oil. The extracted product obtained, based on the total weight of the introduced liquid carbon dioxide exceeding 10 times but not exceeding 15 times the weight of the patchouli granules, is collected as the second patchouli extract, which includes the second patchouli oil.

    Abstract: A computer sound card includes a power supply noise isolation circuit for reducing ground plane noise generated during application of heavy electrical loads to the power supply, such as loads presented by computer GPUs. The power supply isolation circuit isolates the output ground from the ground presented from the power supply to the isolation circuit input. The isolation circuit in one embodiment includes switching circuitry and a transformer to reduce the power supply ripple noise that might otherwise be introduced by the power supply into an amplifier such as a microphone preamp. In some embodiments a differential amplifier stage is added to the output of the microphone preamp stage to further reduce noise, such as common mode noise.
