Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for redundant Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session establishment. In one embodiment, a method performed by a network node for redundant PDU session establishment comprises providing, to a Wireless Communication Device (WCD), data indicative of instructions to the WCD to establish one or more redundant PDU sessions for one or more PDU sessions, wherein the one or more PDU sessions comprise: (a) one or more ongoing PDU sessions, (b) one or more future PDU sessions, or (c) both (a) and (b). In this manner, the need to configure the WCD with information for triggering redundant PDU sessions is avoided, which in turn reduces WCD complexity. Further, by allowing the network to control triggering of redundant PDU sessions, it is easier to change the use of redundancy mechanisms, e.g., based on need.

Abstract: Systems and methods for transmitting an end marker for Small Data Transmissions (SDT) from a User Equipment (UE) to a base station (gNB) are provided. In some embodiments, the UE detects a condition that indicates that transmission of an end marker is to occur. The end marker is an indication that the UE: (a) has no data for uplink transmission using a Configured Grant (CG) SDT configuration, (b) expects no data for uplink transmission using the CG-SDT configuration for a time period, or both (a) and (b). In response to the detection, the UE transmits the end marker to the network node.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for enhanced transmit and receive performance for time synchronization. In one embodiment, a method performed by an access node for a wireless network comprises receiving a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) preamble from a User Equipment (UE) and deriving timing-related information based on 5 the PRACH preamble in accordance with a defined uplink signal timing detection error requirement, the defined uplink signal timing detection error requirement being stricter than a respective uplink signal timing detection error requirement defined in Release 15 and 16 of Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) New Radio (NR) specifications for a subcarrier spacing used for the PRACH preamble. The method further comprises 0 sending the timing-related information to the UE. In this manner, enhanced time synchronization performance can be achieved.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for time synchronization in a wireless communication network. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless communication device comprises transmitting, to an access node, a signal for enhanced uplink timing estimation, wherein the signal occupies more or separate physical resources as compared to a corresponding signal transmitted for a purpose other than enhanced uplink timing estimation. The method further comprises receiving, from the access node, a message comprising timing-related information or clock time, responsive to transmitting the signal for enhanced uplink timing estimation. In this manner, the wireless communication network is able to meet enhanced timing error requirements, e.g., when inter-working with a Time Sensitive Network (TSN).

Abstract: Providing Roaming Value Added Service (RVAS) network function for Home Public Land Mobile Network (HPLMN) is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a Home Network Repository Function (H-NRF) in an HPLMN of a telecommunications network obtains information about a Home Control Network Function (NF) and a Roaming Control NF. A Visited NF in a Visited Public Land Mobile Network (VPLMN) sends a discovery request to the H-NRF in the HPLMN. The H-NRF receives the discovery request from the Visited NF in the VPLMN, and determines that, for the discovery request and the VPLMN, RVAS is applicable. The H-NRF selects the Roaming Control NF and the Home Control NF for the discovery request, and transmits, to the Visited NF, a response to the discovery request, the response comprising an address of the selected Roaming Control NF instead of an address of the selected Home Control NF.

Abstract: Redirection and retry of registration is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a User Equipment (UE) of a Next Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) is adapted to transmit a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) registration request comprising one or more Single-Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI), indicated as one or more requested S-NSSAI. The UE is further adapted to receive, in an Access Stratum (AS) protocol, an AS-level registration reattempt indication to instruct the UE to reattempt the NAS registration request in a target cell. The UE is also adapted to reattempt the NAS registration in the target cell, responsive to receiving the AS-level registration reattempt indication.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling User Equipments (UEs) to use a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) failing service under disaster conditions and to receive services from alternative PLMNs. In some embodiments, a method performed by a first network node comprises receiving, from a second network node, a first disaster roaming PLMN list. The method also comprises determining that a UE is to be authenticated. The method further comprises providing, to a third network node, a request including the disaster roaming PLMN list, responsive to determining that the UE is to be authenticated. In this way, an interruption of the service at the UE is minimized in case of the disaster conditions.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for network-initiated slice-based handover in a cellular communications system. In one embodiment, a method in a cellular communications system comprises, at a network node in a core network of the cellular communications system, detecting a triggering event for a network slice handover for a session of a particular wireless communication device. The method further comprises, at the network node and responsive to detecting the triggering event, identifying a target network slice for the network slice handover and sending, to a Policy and Control Function (PCF) in the core network, a message that initiates a network slice handover of the session from a source network slice to the target network slice. The method further comprises, at the PCF, receiving the message that initiates the network slice handover and performing an action to cause the network slice handover.
