Abstract:
A microphysiological system (MPS) includes at least one first inlet for receiving a fluid medium. The MPS includes a brain module comprising brain tissue. The MPS includes a blood-brain-barrier (BBB) module comprising BBB tissue, the BBB module configured to receive the fluid medium. The MPS includes a crosstalk channel between the brain module and the BBB module, the crosstalk channel configured to promote a bidirectional crosstalk between the brain tissue and the BBB tissue in response to receiving the fluid medium at the BBB module. The MPS is configured for treating the brain tissue and the BBB tissue with a drug or a combination of drugs to determine a phenotypic effect and a transcriptomic effect of the drug. A drug perturbation is related to the phenotypic effect and the transcriptomic effect based on kinetic optimization.
Abstract:
This document describes a process of producing gel microparticles, which are consistent in size and morphology. Through the process of coacervation, large volumes of gel microparticle slurry can be produced by scaling up reactor vessel size. Particles can be repeatedly dehydrated and rehydrated in accordance to their environment, allowing for the storage of particles in a non-solvent such as ethanol. Gel slurries exhibit a Bingham plastic behavior in which the slurry behaves as a solid at shear stresses that are below a critical value. Upon reaching the critical shear stress, the slurry undergoes a rapid decrease in viscosity and behaves as a liquid. The rheological behavior of these slurries can be adjusted by changing the compaction processes such as centrifugation force to alter the yield-stress. The narrower distribution and reduced size of these particles allows for an increase in FRESH printing fidelity.

A method for a touch sensing system includes generating, by a first pair of electrodes at a first location in a conductive material, an electric field in the conductive material; generating measurement data by measuring, by one or more second pairs of electrodes, the electric field in the conductive material at one or more second locations in the conductive material, with each of the one or more second locations differing from the first location; generating, based on the measurement data, an approximation of the electric field in the conductive material; and classifying, based on the approximation, one or more regions of the interface into a given state.

A package comprises: a transducer; a substrate comprising an acoustic port, with the transducer attached to a surface of the substrate and over or adjacent to the acoustic port; and a venting mechanism for venting air or sound pressure from a device comprising the package, with the venting mechanism being affixed to the substrate and partially surrounding the acoustic port, and with the venting mechanism being dimensioned to filter out audio frequencies.
Abstract:
This document describes a search retrieval system for automatically indexing data representing audio-visual recordings and for querying, responsive to a search query, that indexed data representing the audio-visual recordings. The search retrieval system defines weights for semantic features of an audio-visual recording and extracts, based on execution of a first set of rules, one or more semantic features. The system determines a weight for each of the one or more semantic features. A search engine searches nodes in the graph of the semantic features to identify one or more logical relationships for the one or more semantic features extracted. The weights for each of the one or more semantic features are adjusted based on the graph. The data is indexed in association with the one or more adjusted weights for the one or more semantic features, respectively.

A transducer and method for processing a MEMS transducer. In one aspect, the MEMS transducer includes a first plate and a second plate. The MEMS transducer can also include a spring substantially between the first plate and the second plate, the spring including first and second spring arms dimensioned to decrease vertical deflection mismatch between the first and second plates, relative to vertical deflection mismatch of the first and second plates independent of the spring.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for executing a query on data items located at different places in a stream of near real-time data to provide near-real time intermediate results for the query, as the query is being executed, the method including: from time to time, executing, by one or more computer systems, the query on two or more of the data items located at different places in the stream, with the two or more data items being accessed in near real-time with respect to each of the two or more data items; generating information indicative of results of executing the query; and as the query continues being executed, generating intermediate results of query execution by aggregating the results with prior results of executing the query on data items that previously appeared in the stream of near real-time data; and transmitting to one or more client devices the intermediate results of query execution, prior to completion of execution of the query.
Abstract:
Techniques and circuits are disclosed for obtaining a physical unclonable function (PUF) circuit that is configured to provide, during a first operational mode, an output signal that is dependent on an electric characteristic of the PUF circuit. Techniques and circuits described herein can cause the PUF circuit to enter a second operational mode by applying a stress signal to the PUF circuit that changes a value of the electric characteristic relative to another value of the electric characteristic during the first operational mode of the PUF circuit; and adjusting, based on changing the absolute value of the first electric characteristic, a bias magnitude of the output signal relative to another bias magnitude of the output signal during the first operational mode of the PUF circuit.
