Abstract: A testing apparatus (10; 110) for testing the resistance of a road protection barrier (B) is described, comprising: a support structure (14; 114) adapted to be positioned on a ground or road close to the barrier (B); a striking mass (12; 112) suspended from the support structure (14; 114) so as to be able to oscillate with respect to it in a vertical plane around an equilibrium position, the striking mass (12; 112) comprising a main body (16; 116) and a tip (18; 118) connected to the main body (16; 116) and intended to impact against the barrier (B) to be tested; and driving means (138, 144) for moving the striking mass (12; 112) from the equilibrium position to a release position in which the tip (18; 118) of the striking mass (12; 112) is at a distance from the barrier (B) to be tested that is greater than the distance at which it is in the equilibrium position. With the use of such an apparatus (10; 110), it is possible to carry out an impact test on the barrier (B) directly on the road, without the need to completely dismantle the barrier (B) from the road.
