    Abstract: A steerable medical device includes an elongate tool, and a handle, and a steering assembly. The handle is mounted to the tool and has a handle body and a knob that is rotatable with respect to the handle body. The steering assembly includes at least a first spool housed within the handle body and coupled to the knob, and at least first control wire windable about the first spool and coupled to the tool. Rotation of the knob with respect to the handle body drives rotation of the first spool, rotation of the first spool cause winding of the first control wire about the first spool to tension the control wire, and tensioning of the control wire causes deflection of the tool.

    Abstract: A steerable medical device includes a handle having a handle body and a first control assembly that is movable with respect to the handle body. A first cam is housed within the handle body and is coupled to the control assembly. Movement of the control assembly with respect to the handle body drives rotation of the cam with respect to the handle body. A first slider is housed within the handle body and is coupled to the cam. Rotation of the cam drives translation of the slider within the handle body. An elongate tool extends from the handle. A first control wire is coupled between the first slider and the tool. Translation of the first slider causes tensioning of the control wire, and tensioning of the control wire causes deflection of the tool.

    Abstract: A handle for a medical device includes a handle body and a knob that is rotatable with respect to the handle body. A first gear is associated with the knob. A slide assembly is housed within the handle body or the knob. The slide assembly includes a first lead screw. A second gear is associated with the slide assembly. A third gear is housed within the handle body or the knob and is coupled between the first gear and the second gear. Rotation of the knob drives rotation of the first gear, rotation of the first gear drives rotation of the third gear, rotation of the third gear drives rotation of the second gear, and rotation of the second gear drives rotation of the lead screw.

    Abstract: A perforation device for use in medical procedures includes an elongate shaft extending between a proximal portion defining a proximal end and a distal portion defining a distal end. The shaft includes an electrode assembly at the distal end, a wire extending between the proximal end and the electrode assembly, and an electrically resistive coating cladding the wire between the proximal end and the electrode assembly. A first coating clads the electrically resistive coating along the proximal portion. The first coating is relatively stiff. The medical imaging system includes a safety module configured to select one or more regions within the graphical representation for designation as a non-target region, and to monitor the position of the medical device within the anatomical volume and take a safety action if the position of the medical device within the anatomical volume corresponds to one of the non-target regions.
