Abstract:
A method and system for generating a voxel-based quadratic penalty model for automatic intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatment planning are disclosed herein. A computing system generates an initial assignment of threshold values to a penalty function for IMRT treatment planning. The computing system receives an update to a dose value associated with the IMRT treatment planning. The computing system dynamically updates the threshold values based on the updated dose value. The computing system continues to iterate the threshold values based on further updated dose values.
Abstract:
Methods for treating bodies of water with encapsulated corrosive fluids are described. Corrosive fluids may include, for example, hydrochloric acid or other acids used in treating the bodies of water. The encapsulated corrosive fluids may also be used in for treatments in oil and/or gas wells.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for assessing physical properties of a geological formation are disclosed. The systems and methods may use electrodes that include two conductive portions separated by an isolation gap positioned along a casing in a wellbore in the formation. The electrodes may be sequentially energized to provide excitation stimulus into the formation while the remaining, non-energized electrodes may substantially simultaneously receive excitation responses to the excitation stimulus from the formation. The excitation responses may be assessed to determine one or more physical properties of fractures in the formation.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compounds which may be useful as inhibitors of PTPN11 for the treatment or prevention of cancer and other PTP-mediated diseases. Disclosed herein are new compounds and compounds based on pyrazolopyrazines and their application as pharmaceuticals for the treatment of disease.
Abstract:
Described herein is the application of centrifugal spinning to provide a polypropylene (PP) nanofiber environment for cell growth. PP nanofiber mats, formed by centrifugal spinning are treated with one or more antimicrobial agents. The treated PP material was shown to have a 10 reduced rate of rejection and promote cell growth and proliferation.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for decellularizing an isolated organ, or a portion thereof, by mechanically agitating the isolated organ with a detergent-containing fluid that removes the cellular membrane surrounding the isolated organ, in the presence of a regulatable source of air to control the removal of detergent from the decellularized organ, while maintaining the extracellular matrix and scaffold. Also disclosed are methods for producing mesoparticle-infused acellular tissues for generation of mammalian organs and tissues suitable, inter alia , for human transplantation
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods of treating a subject having an altered NRF2/KEAP1 pathway, and compounds and compositions useful in such treatment. Also disclosed herein are methods of evaluating whether to administer a compound that inhibits glutathione production or a glutaminase inhibitor to a subject.
Abstract:
The invention provides systems and methods for detection, grading, scoring and tele-screening of cancerous lesions. A complete scheme for automated quantitative analysis and assessment of human and animal tissue images of several types of cancers is presented. Various aspects of the invention are directed to the detection, grading, prediction and staging of prostate cancer on serial sections/slides of prostate core images, or biopsy images. Accordingly, the invention includes a variety of sub-systems, which could be used separately or in conjunction to automatically grade cancerous regions. Each system utilizes a different approach with a different feature set. For instance, in the quantitative analysis, textural-based and morphology-based features may be extracted at image- and (or) object-levels from regions of interest. Additionally, the invention provides sub-systems and methods for accurate detection and mapping of disease in whole slide digitized images by extracting new features through integration of one or more of the above-mentioned classification systems. The invention also addresses the modeling, qualitative analysis and assessment of 3-D histopathology images which assist pathologists in visualization, evaluation and diagnosis of diseased tissue. Moreover, the invention includes systems and methods for the development of a tele-screening system in which the proposed computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems. In some embodiments, novel methods for image analysis (including edge detection, color mapping characterization and others) are provided for use prior to feature extraction in the proposed CAD systems.
Abstract:
Described herein is a device and method to derive density measurements for features depicted in computed tomography systems. A radiographic device is used in some embodiments to derive a correlation between measured grey levels in an image produced using a CT system and the attenuation coefficients and/or the CT numbers of the depicted features.
Abstract:
A method of inhibiting, preventing, or reducing damage to non-cancerous cells in a human subject during chemotherapeutic treatment or radiation treatment of cancer cells in the human subject includes administering to the human subject arsenic and/or one or more compounds of arsenic in a therapeutically effective amount prior to treatment with radiation or one or more chemotherapeutic agents.
