Abstract: Disclosed is a cyan toner having excellent light-transmitting properties which is higher in brightness and more greenish in hue than conventional cyan toners. The cyan toner contains, as a coloring material, a triphenylmethane dye compound represented by the formula (1) and having an -SO 2 NR 9 R 10 group in toner particles. In this connection, R 9 and R 10 independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group, or R 9 and R 10 may form a heterocyclic ring together with a nitrogen atom.
