Abstract: A pet food or feed which contains (A) at least 10 wt% of a diglyceride component wherein unsaturated fatty acids having 14 to 24 carbon atoms account for at least 50 wt% of the constituent fatty acid component and unsaturated fatty acids having four or more carbon-carbon double bonds and 20 or more carbon atoms account for up to 40 wt% of the constituent fatty acid component and (B) at most 20 wt% of free fatty acids and has a diglyceride /monoglyceride content ratio of 1 or above by weight. The pet food or feed is reduced in the unpleasant smell coming from animal proteins such as meat only by replacement of part or the whole of the fats and oils by the above specific fat-and-oil composition without any complicated process, little giving an unpleasant feeling.
