Abstract: The present invention relates to a lysine-branched copolymer comprising repeating units derived from lysine and repeating units derived from one or more further proteinogenic amino acids, wherein lysine-branched copolymer means a copolymer that comprises at least one repeating unit per copolymer-molecule which is a lysine-moiety and which is bound to another repeating unit via its alpha-amino group, and to yet another repeating unit via its epsilon-amino group, and to yet another repeating unit via its carboxylic acid group. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process for making the lysine-branched copolymer, to a composition suitable for treating hair comprising it and to the use of the copolymer or of the composition for treating hair.
