Abstract: An internal combustion engine system includes an engine with a plurality of pistons housed in respective ones of a plurality of cylinders. A valve train is provided for opening and closing intake and exhaust valves of the cylinders during nominal engine operations. The valve train is also configured for cylinder deactivation and to provide one or more selected lift profiles for opening and closing of the intake and/or exhaust valves.

The second dividing plenum outlet is fluidly coupled with the dividing plenum inlet. The air collector is configured to be fluidly coupled to the collecting plenum. The air collector includes a first air collector inlet, a second air collector inlet, and an air collector outlet. Each of the plurality of air collector fastening legs is configured to be coupled to the collecting plenum.

Abstract: A recycling loop configuration of an exhaust gas aftertreatment system decreases a level of system-out NOx emissions of an engine. An apparatus including the configuration has an exhaust gas recycling system having a closed gas recycling loop system configured to heat gas circulating within the loop, and a blower for circulating gas within the loop. A method for operating the engine includes preheating at least one aftertreatment component of an exhaust gas aftertreatment system of the engine by exposing the component to heated gas circulating in a closed gas recycling loop.
