This invention relates to a reaction product obtained by contacting a polymer comprising units derived from dicyclopentadiene with a vinyl terminated macromonomer, a vinyl monomer or a vinylene monomer, in the presence of a metathesis catalyst, where the vinyl monomer or vinylene monomer is represented by the formula (I): wherein each X is, independently, -C0 2 R, -CONR 1 R 2 , CN, a C 1 to a C 20 alkyl group; R is a C 1 to a C 20 alkyl group or an aromatic group; each R 1 and R 2 is, independently, a hydrogen, a C 1 to a C 20 alkyl group, or an aromatic group; each R 5 is, independently, a hydrogen atom or a C 1 to a C 40 alkyl group; each Ar is, independently, an aromatic group; and each n is, independently, from 0 to 40.

This invention relates to a composition comprising a multiblock polyolefin represented by the formula: PO-(-C=C-Z-)n-C=C-PO* (I) or PO-(-C-C-Z-)n-C-C-PO* (la) wherein Z is the portion of a cyclic monomer having at least one internal double bond that remains after a ring-opening metathesis reaction; PO and PO* are each independently polyolefins; and n is 1 to 10,000; and a process to produce such comprising contacting an alkene metathesis catalyst with a dimer of vinyl terminated polyolefins, and a cyclic hydrocarbyl monomer comprising at least one internal double bond.

A functionalized polyolefin and a tire tread composition comprising the functionalized polyolefin is described. The functionalized polyolefin comprises a vinyl/vinylidene-terminated polyolefin in which the vinyl/vinylidene terminus is functionalized with an alkoxysilane or an alkylsilane and optionally having ether, hydroxyl and/or amine functionality. The invention is also directed to the synthesis of vinyl/vinylidene-terminated polyolefins, functionalization at the vinyl/vinylidene terminus with an alkoxysilane or an alkylsilane and optionally having ether, hydroxyl and/or amine functionality.
