Abstract: A protection system for a power distribution system is provided (figure 1). The protection system includes a central computer (28), a plurality of data modules (30), and a data network (32). The data modules (30) are each in communication with a different circuit breaker (14) of the power distribution system. The data network (32) communicates between the central computer (28) and the plurality of data modules (30). The central computer (28) sends an instruction to the plurality of data modules (30) over the data network (32) to aid in synchronization of sampling of a power condition at the plurality of data modules (30).
