    Abstract: A method for producing an oxide magnetic material based permanent magnet which comprises a binder addition step of mixing a raw material powder comprising an oxide magnetic material with a binder, a water content adjusting step of adjusting the water content in the resulting mixture for molding, a step of dry molding in a magnetic field wherein the above molding mixture adjusted in water content is placed in a mold and is pressed in a magnetic field applied thereto while aligning easy magnetization directions of particles in the oxide magnetic material powder and a firing step of firing the resultant molded article, characterized in that the binder used in the binder addition step is a wax based on an ester of an fatty acid, and the molding mixture placed in the mold in the step of dry molding in a magnetic field contains agglomerates having a size of 500 mum or more in an amount of 0.01 to 0.80 wt %. The method allows an oxide magnetic material based permanent magnet having excellent magnetic characteristics to be produced while maintaining the production cost at a low level.
