Abstract: A brake system has a restoring unit for exerting a restoring force on the pedal. As the pedal simultaneously actuates a control valve (9) which determines the servo-power, exertion of a restoring force is accompanied by a reduction in the servo-power. The wall (40) on which the restoring forces act can be advantageously arranged in the servo housing (5) between the master cylinder (1) and the servo wall (6). As it undergoes only relatively small displacements in relation to the servo wall (6), the overall length of the servo housing (5) is not basically increased. Other alternative embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: In an antilock hydraulic braking system, a throttle is inserted in the throttle valve (8) in the brake line during brake slip control. The pumps (12, 13) pump the hydraulic fluid through the throttle to the wheel brake. The pressure in the wheel brake is controlled only by an outlet valve (11) the open cross-section of which is chosen so that the quantity of hydraulic fluid discharged through the outlet valve (11) is greater than the quantity of hydraulic fluid delivered by the pumps (12, 13) to the wheel brake via the throttle. Hence, when the outlet valve is open, the pressure in the brake decreases, whereas when the valve (11) is closed, the pressure in the brake increases. The invention relates to different ways of controlling the throttle valve (8).

Abstract: A brake system for motor vehicles with antiblocking device comprises a pump which in the control mode conveys a reduced volume in order to position a piston of the master cylinder. In the embodiment shown in Figure 2, the reduction in volume is achieved by keeping the nonreturn valve (64, 65) open, so that the flow of hydraulic medium is unaffected by the movements of the piston (56). The nonreturn valve (64, 65) is kept open by an electromagnetic actuating unit (62) controlled by the antiblocking device. In this way, at least one piston of the master cylinder, and hence the brake pedal, can be positioned as desired during the control mode by simple means.
