Abstract:
A microwave or radio frequency (RF) device (300) includes stacked printed circuit boards (102, 152) (PCBs) mounted on a flexible PCB (206) having at least one ground plane and a signal terminal. Each of the stacked PCBs includes through-holes (120) the sidewalls of which are coated with a conductive material. Microwave components (110, 112, 154, 156) are mounted on the flexible PCB within the through-holes, such that signal terminals of the components bond to respective signal terminals of the flexible PCB. A conductive cover (132, 228) is mounted on the PCBs such that the cover is in electrical contact with the ground plane of the flexible PCB through the conductive material, forming shielding cavities around the components. The flexible PCB is folded such that the cover (132) of one PCB faces the cover (228) of the second PCB. The flexible PCB includes striplines or microstrips that carry RF or microwave signals to the signal terminals.

Abstract:
According to one aspect, the invention provides a method of providing conductive structures between two foils in a multi-foil system. The system comprises at least two foils, from which at least one foil comprises a terminal. The method comprises the steps of (in any order) providing at least one solid state adhesive layer, patterning adhesive layer with through-holes; filling the through-holes with conductive material, so as to form the conductive structure, connected to the terminal; and bonding the at least two foils. One advantage of the invention is that it may be used in a manufacturing process for multi-foil systems.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises an inexpensive and simple means for electrically and mechanically connecting a plurality of printed circuits together. The present invention also comprised embodiments where the printed circuits can be moved relative to each other without breaking the electrical contact between them. Yet another embodiment contemplates a means for joining two linear printed circuits to make a longer circuit. In yet another embodiment, the printed circuits and connections are used to make an inexpensive, reliable electrical harness for contacting a patient-worn sensor to a patient monitor such as an ECG monitor.
Abstract:
A flexible electronic foil (1, 1', 1") comprising a flexible substrate (2) and at least one electrically conductive portion (3) arranged to the substrate (2). The foil (1, 1', 1") comprises mechanical fastening means (6, 6', 7) for mechanical fastening of the electronic foil (1, 1', 1"), the mechanical fastening means being part of the substrate (2) of the electronic foil (1, 1', 1").
Abstract:
A display device is disclosed. The display device includes a body, a housing separated from the body and configured to transmit/receive signals to/from the body, and a cable coupling the housing and the body, wherein the cable includes a flat cable located in at least part of the cable and having a flat shape, and a round cable located in at least another part of the cable and having a round shape. According to the present invention, the flat cable has a narrow width by including a plurality of layers, and thus wiring of signal terminals and power terminals can be easily changed between the flat cable and the round cable.
Abstract:
A strap band including a flexible wire bus having electrodes and wires coupled with the electrodes is described. The wire bus may be include in a strap band formed by molding an inner strap, mounting the wire bus in the inner strap, and injection molding an outer strap over the inner strap and wire bus to form a strap band. The electrodes may be positioned on the inner strap to accommodate a target range of a body portion the strap band may be worn on. A material of the strap band and a material the wire bus may be selected to allow a low coefficient of friction between the wire bus and strap band so that loads applied to the strap band may not be coupled with the wire bus or cause damage to wires due to pull and/or torsional load forces applied to the strap band.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a connection system for connection of PCBs comprising a first PCB provided with a flexible film with electrically conducting traces for electrical connection to a second PCB, wherein the flexible film is adapted to be folded along an oblique line extending from a side of the flexible film to another side of the flexible film such that when folded an end part of the flexible film is located outside a border of the first PCB and is connectable to the second PCB. The invention also relates to a method for connection of PCBs, and a method for manufacturing a system for connection of PCBs.
Abstract:
Die may be thinned using a thinning and/or a polishing process. Such thinned die may be flexible and may change operational characteristics when flexed. Detection circuitry may also be provided on the PCB and may be used to detect changed operational characteristics. The thinned die may be stacked, interconnected, and encapsulated between sheets of laminate material to form a flexible card or device. A powered card may include a circuit board with multiple layers, and may include multiple reader communication devices. One of the layers may include an RFID antenna. A powered card may include a plurality of types of sensors used to detect a read-head of a card reader.
