Abstract: The present invention relates to a perfusion balloon catheter that has an expandable (enlargeable) inner lumen (114) with a novel design feature that allows a continuous flow through this enlarged lumen sufficient perfusion to the distal lumen of the blood vessel or air passage concurrent to and independently of balloon (104) inflation or deflation resulting in the prolonged dilatation and avoiding the high risks of blood or air flow stricture during balloon inflation.

Abstract: A medical device may include a body and a photosensitizer integrated with the body. The medical device may passively resist colonization of bacteria under ambient light. The medical device may also actively resist colonization of bacteria by releasing reactive oxidative species (ROS) in response to administration of a light dose in a range of 0.5 J/cm2 to 320 J/cm2, for a duration between 1 second and 1 hour. The body may be formed by a base resin. The photosensitizer may be compounded with the base resin. The photosensitizer may be imbibed into the base resin. The medical device may include a coating disposed on a surface of the body. The photosensitizer may be disposed within the coating. The medical device may include a catheter adapter and a catheter extending distally from the catheter adapter. The catheter may be co-extruded with the photosensitizer and another material.

Abstract: A blood pump assembly includes an introducer sheath (100) with a proximal end and a distal end, a pump body (120) which extends within the introducer sheath, and a catheter (121) that interfaces with the pump body and extends proximally though the introducer sheath. In a rest state, the introducer sheath forms an oval cross-section sized to encompass the catheter and a medical device. In a constrained state when the pump body is within the introducer sheath, the cross-section of the introducer sheath is circular. The malleability of the introducer sheath allows larger medical devices to be passed through the introducer sheath, while still allowing other devices to be inserted through the introducer sheath after the pump has been guided through. A perimeter of oval cross-section of the introducer sheath is equal to the perimeter of the circular cross-section of the introducer sheath.

An implantable biomaterial such as a heart valve leaflet is also disclosed.
