    Abstract: A tether assembly may be attached to a bone to correct a rotational deformity. The bone may have a growth plate that separates a first section of the bone from a second section of the bone. The tether assembly may have a tether member with a first end, a second end, and a central portion extending between the first end and the second end. The first end may have a closed outer wall that defines and fully bounds a first aperture. The second end may have an open outer wall that defines and partially bounds a second aperture. The open outer wall may define a slot in communication with the second aperture. The first and second ends may be securable to the first and second sections of the bone via coupling members inserted through the first and second apertures and anchored in the first and second sections, respectively.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an expandable fastener for orthopaedic applications. The fastener is arranged for fastening when positioned in a bore hole in bone and comprises a body having an axis. The fastener further comprises an expansion portion moveable between a contracted configuration and an expanded configuration and arranged such that the expansion portion urges outwardly from the axis of the body towards the bone surrounding the bore hole when moving towards the expanded configuration. In addition, the fastener comprises a coupling member for coupling to the expansion portion. The coupling member is moveable along the axis of the body. The fastener also comprises an actuator movable along the axis of the body and arranged to move the coupling member along the axis of the body. One of the coupling member and the expansion portion comprises a recess and the other one of the coupling member and the expansion portion comprises a projection. The projection and the recess are arranged such that a hinge is formed when the projection is received in the recess and the expansion portion is movable about an axis through the projection. The projection is insertable into the recess in a first angular orientation of an axis of the expansion portion relative to the axis of the body and is prevented from retracting out of the recess in a second angular orientation of the axis of the expansion portion relative to the axis of the body.

    Abstract: Spinal curvature modulation systems, methods and related devices and instrumentation are disclosed, which include a flexible tether, a tether tensioning unit and bone anchors for the flexible tether that allow the tether to be secured across multiple vertebrae in a region of treatment. When the flexible tether is attached to multiple vertebrae, it can be used to correct spinal deformities. Tension in the flexible tether is adjustable transcutaneously without invasive surgical procedures by use of remotely driven actuators, such as a magnet-driven motor, or by a small tool insertable through a small incision. Disclosed systems and methods thus allow for multiple adjustments of tether tension, and spinal curvature, over time without repeated, highly invasive, spinal surgeries.
