Abstract: One modular ratchet adapter for use with an opposed jaw tool features a wishbone armature (140), (150) supporting a ratchet head (160) while being centered within an elastomeric grip (110). The grip (100) is secured within two jaws of a tool, such as adjustable wrench (200), which interface about a trough (130) defined by the grip (110). An alternate modular ratchet adapter may feature an adapter module and a custom grip housing designed to interface with a given brand and size of adjustable wrench (200). This allows a singular ratchet adapter design to be manufactured while the grip housing may be more economically produced to enhance utility across multiple platforms. Either ratchet adapter may be used between the jaws (210, 230) of a given adjustable wrench (200) or other tool with opposed jaws.

Abstract: A compact three torque application point, ratcheting open- wrench, wherein the operated first and third torque application points are under tension gripping and pulling around their corresponding fastener driven half face whilst the second torque application point is under compression pushing its corresponding fastener driven half face. Contact with the worked fastener driven half faces being in generally the same point within each driven half face largely equalizing any lever arm force applied. The head portion fastener access being approximately at 90 degrees to the handle portion and the second torque application points radiused leading edge is incorporated near the extremely strong point of convergence between the handle portion and the head portion resulting in a far greater inherent ratcheting open- wrench torque capability as there is now no circumstance that the normally susceptible second jaw can either flex or fail as in effect there is no second jaw as such.

Abstract: A socket adapter for limiting torque delivered from a tool to a socket piece. The socket adapter includes a female receiver that is coupleable to and driven by the tool, and a male drive that is coupled to and driven by the female receiver for transferring torque to the socket piece. The socket adapter further includes a clutch mechanism having a first clutch surface, a second clutch surface that engages the first clutch surface, and an adjustment mechanism for adjusting a clamping force between the first clutch surface and the second clutch surface. The second clutch surface slides relative to the first clutch surface when a reaction torque exerted on the clutch mechanism exceeds a predetermined torque limit.

Abstract: The ratchet mechanism comprises a head portion with a circular central housing, the inner surface adjoining the handle portion having a further recess characterized by a plurality of engagement ramp profiles arranged not unlike low angled gear teeth within the recess arc. A pawl is located within the recess, with a corresponding plurality of engagement ramp profiles abutting the recess engagement ramp profiles and incorporating an inner facing toothed face of similar corresponding pitch and profiles as the drive element teeth in order that they can mechanically mesh into one another when ratchet is operated in the drive direction, the pawl inward force being substantially evenly distributed along the pawl toothed front face by the use of several similar engagement ramp profiles urging all the pawl teeth into the required locking engagement with the drive element simultaneously.
