A small percentage of cells within an established tumor have the properties of stem cells. These solid tumor stem cells give rise both to more tumor stem cells and to the majority of cells in the tumor that have lost the capacity for extensive proliferation and the ability to give rise to new tumors. The invention provides a body-worn monitor that measures a patient's vital signs (e.g. blood pressure, SpO2, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature) while simultaneously characterizing their activity state (e.g. resting, walking, convulsing, falling). Provided is a method that derives an intra prediction mode of a prediction unit, determines a size of a current block using transform size information, generates a prediction block of the current block according to the intra prediction mode, generating a residual block of the current block according to the intra prediction mode and generating a reconstructed block of the current block using the prediction block and the residual block. The sizes of the prediction block and the residual block are set equal to a size of a transform unit. Therefore, the distance of intra prediction becomes short, and the amount of coding bits of residual block is reduced by generating a prediction block very similar to original block. Also, the signaling bits required to signal intra prediction mode decrease by generating MPM group adaptively according to the neighboring intra prediction modes.

We propose new methods for creating color or achromatic images that are printed with classical cyan, magenta, yellow and a white diffusing ink on a metallic substrate. We optimize the surface coverages of the cyan, magenta, yellow and white inks in order to create color prints on a metallic surface that look bright and colorful under specular reflection and also look good under non-specular observation conditions. We also provide new means for the prevention of counterfeits. A first effect enables viewing on the same metallic print one achromatic image in specular viewing mode and a second independent achromatic image in non-specular viewing mode. The second effect enables hiding a pattern such as text, graphics or a grayscale image within the printed color image in one viewing mode, specular or non-specular and showing that pattern in the second viewing mode, non-specular or specular, respectively.

To protect a multicast data stream for a multicast group, two P2MP pseudowires are established to deliver multicast data for the particular multicast group to an aggregation node. The two P2MP pseudowires are defined such that the pseudowires have no transport nodes in common other than the aggregation node. The aggregation node replicates data received via a primary pseudowire of the two P2MP pseudowires to subscribers of the multicast group. The aggregation node monitors the data from the primary pseudowire to detect failures in the data flow. When a failure is detected in the primary data stream, the aggregation node replicates data received via a secondary pseudowire of the two P2MP pseudowires for delivery to the multicast group subscribers.

An auditing system and method are used to capture and report an interactive client journey between a web-browser and a website. Instantiation of control code at an end-user computing device, typically initiated in response to a tag embedded in a website, initiates capture of server and request headers from the perspective of the locally-executing web-browser. The control code causes the sending of an uplink journey report to a cloud-based processing server that uses the report to interpret the server and request headers to imply real-time interactions between the end-user, the web-browser executing on the computing device and the web-server. Client-side capture provides for easy installation of control code that can be delivered directly from a content distribution network. The processing server correlates the server and request headers with predefined flagged events related to at least one of operation of the web-server and data processing at the web-server.

Embodiments herein describe techniques for synchronizing LFSRs located on two compute devices. To synchronize the LFSRs, a first one of the compute devices may transmit a first training block that includes a predefined bit sequence. The training block is scrambled by a transmitting (TX) LFSR on the first compute device and then transmitted to the second compute device. The second compute device performs an XOR operation to recover the outputs of the TX LFSR that were used to scramble the data. The second compute device can use the outputs of the TX LFSR to determine future outputs of the TX LFSR. These future outputs are then used to initialize a receiving (RX) LFSR on the second compute device. Now, when subsequent training blocks are received, the second compute device can use the initialized RX LFSR to descramble the scrambled training blocks.

A jitter occurring due to a difference in operation timing between a receiving part and a processing part is reduced. The receiving part receives reception data. The processing part processes the reception data and generates transmission data. A transmitting part transmits the transmission data at a timing at which a transmission delay time has passed since a timing at which the processing part generates the transmission data. The transmission delay time is a time obtained by subtracting a process delay time from an overall delay time. The process delay time is a time that passes since a timing at which the receiving part receives the reception data until a timing at which the processing part processes the reception data.
