The present invention relates to a container for an analyte-sensitive gel. When analyte contacts such a gel it causes a gel-sol transition resulting in decreased viscosity of the gel. Such gels can be used for controlling the rate of release of an agent from a reservoir in response to the concentration of an analyte. The container is configured to allow analyte to pass into the container and contact the gel and to allow agent to diffuse out of the container. Such a container may be implantable in the body of a subject and therefore it is preferred if the container is constructed from materials that can be tolerated by the body for a period of time. Advantageously, the container limits the swelling and dilution of gel contained within the container caused by the influx of water into the gel by osmosis. The container therefore maintains the gel in a desired conformation and ensures a predictable release profile of the agent.

Proximity of a responder device to an initiator device can be used to determine user intent for pairing the responder device with the initiator device. For example, the initiator device can measure a signal strength of an advertisement signal from the responder device. When the signal strength is sufficiently strong, a pairing process can be initiated, e.g., the user of the initiator device can automatically be prompted to begin pairing. The determination of whether the signal strength is sufficiently high can be determined based on a human interaction model, which can use measurements from various geometrical configurations of the two types of devices. Measurements at expected configurations that users would place the two devices to initiate pairing can be used to determine a threshold value for the signal strength to identify user intent with a new pair of devices.

A firewall may identify a uniform resource locator (URL) being transmitted to a user device, the URL link pointing to a host system. The firewall can then modify the URL link to point instead to a sandbox system. Once a user at the user device selects the URL link (e.g., by clicking or touching it in a browser), the firewall receives the user device's HTTP request and directs it to the sandbox system, which generates a new HTTP request that is then sent through the firewall to the host system. The host system then sends host content to the sandbox system instead of to the user device. The user device may then be presented with a representation of the host content as rendered at the sandbox system (e.g., through a remote desktop interface).

Embodiments enable display updates other than a video stream in a graphical user interface (GUI) to be rendered, encoded, and transmitted exclusive of the video stream. A virtual machine generates a GUI that includes an encoded video stream and other display updates. A virtual graphics processing unit (VGPU) stack associated with the VM renders the other display updates of the GUI to a framebuffer. The rendered display updates are encoded and transmitted to a client for display. The encoded video stream, or a modified (e.g., reduced bit rate) version of the encoded video stream, may be transmitted to the client, such that the client can display the encoded video stream within the GUI. For example, the encoded video stream may be selectively transmitted to the client based on the performance capabilities of the client.

Mass amounts of information, such as entire libraries of songs or movies, for example, may be stored locally near end-users, and this information may be accessed and reproduced in response to commands received from a transmitting station via a network. When a radio or television station desires to transmit a song or movie, for example, the radio or television station can, rather than transmitting the entire song or movie, merely transmit a command for reproducing the song or movie. An end-user's performance reproduction device, such as an enhanced radio or a television set, then accesses and reproduces the locally stored song or movie. Since the radio or television station need not transmit the entire performance, network traffic can be significantly reduced. The performance reproduction device may actively request information from the radio or television station when fresh or additional information is needed.
