In an approach, a computer receives an observation dataset that identifies one or more ground truth values of an environmental variable at one or more times and a reforecast dataset that identifies one or more predicted values of the environmental variable produced by a forecast model that correspond to the one or more times. The computer then trains a climatology on the observation dataset to generate an observed climatology and trains the climatology on the reforecast dataset to generate a forecast climatology. The computer identifies observed anomalies by subtracting the observed climatology from the observation dataset and forecast anomalies by subtracting the forecast climatology from the reforecast dataset. The computer then models the observed anomalies as a function of the forecast anomalies, resulting in a calibration function, which the computer can then use to calibrate new forecasts received from the forecast model.

A machine data collection system uses tachometer timing information to perform post-collection synchronization of measurement data that was collected asynchronously using multiple sensors. In machine predictive analysis systems, timing information derived from a tachometer signal is typically used to make measurement calculations per rotation. A tachometer key signal that is detected by an event-triggered digital input can also be used to post-synchronize measurement data. Although a timestamp is not accurate enough alone for post-collection synchronization, the combination of a tachometer key signal and a timestamp can be accurate enough for post-collection synchronization.

Conventionally, eyewear is rated in terms of its absorption coefficient (sometimes called the optical density (OD)) or the protection that it provides from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which can damage the eye at high enough power levels. Infrared (IR) radiation can also damage the eye, but IR damage tends to occur at a much slower rate than UV-induced damage. Rating eyewear in terms of protection from IR radiation and/or in terms of a maximum safe exposure duration (SED) to IR radiation improves consumers' ability to protect themselves from IR radiation. In addition, eyewear rated for more IR protection or longer SED may still provide excellent vision thanks to coatings that reflect or absorb IR light and transmit visible light.

A piston is the driven component within a pump. The piston is driven along a longitudinal axis to pump a fluid through the pump. The fluid flows through the piston between an upstream end of the pump and a downstream end of the pump. The piston outputs the fluid into the downstream end of the pump at a vector offset from the longitudinal axis, thereby inducing rotation of the piston throughout the pumping process. Rotating the piston encourages even wear on various components within the pump, such as sealing rings surrounding the piston, thereby increasing the lifespan of the components and increasing the efficiency of the pump.

Methods for controlling a feedback torque actuator and at least one yaw and/or lateral vehicle state actuator in a steer-by-wire steering system include measuring an input signal with a sensor, determining from the input signal a measure of a torque applied by the driver via a steering wheel, transforming the measure to a desired yaw and/or lateral vehicle state, controlling the yaw and/or lateral vehicle state actuator for vehicle state control, and defining a steering-wheel torque to steering-wheel angle relation describing steering feel. The machine has a surface heated transfer pad, supply and guide devices, a flexible printing ribbon which carries thermally transferable ink images, a position sensor providing electrical signals indicative of the vertical position of the transfer pad and a control unit with a learning phase, said control unit causes a descent run of the thermal transfer assembly, until the transfer pad engages with an article of a predetermined type. The position sensor detects and stores reference data characterizing descent run and the control unit initiates a subsequent descent run towards an article of the same type, comparing the reference data to the current descent run data, and stopping printing when an anomaly is discovered.

A method and a device for producing a document and a document produced in a corresponding manner are presented, said document being produced from a paper reel (1), being printed in a continuous rotary method, being divided into partial webs (4.1 to 4.4) and being assembled to form a document which is ready for use and has a plurality of sheets or pages. The thickness of individual pages or sheets of said document can be increased by the fact that a gluing machine (26) is integrated into the production process of said document, the gluing machine gluing individual page sections, individual pages or entire sheets of said document to one another. A second paper reel or second type of paper or second paper quality having a higher paper thickness or paper quality is therefore unnecessary.

Methods and systems are disclosed for structurally analyzing and/or three-dimensional printing a part. The method may comprise receiving a model of the part for three-dimensional printing from a material comprising a matrix, receiving one or more properties for the material, and using the model, determining a print head tool path for use during the three-dimensional printing of the part. The method may also comprise determining a trajectory of at least one stiffness-contributing portion of the material based at least in part on the print head tool path, determining a performance of the part based at least in part on the one or more properties and the trajectory, and electronically outputting the performance of the part.

Stretch laminate hot melt adhesives and stretch laminates are described. The stretch laminate hot melt adhesives are suitable for adhering elastic materials with inelastic substrates, and allow permanent deformation of the inelastic substrate and extensions and retractions of the elastic materials. The stretch laminate hot melt adhesive is particularly suitable for back ear lamination for disposable absorbent articles.

A floor, wall, or ceiling panel and to a method for producing same. The panel has a base made of a wood material and an upper veneer. The base and the veneer are hot-pressed together while incorporating a resin layer. During the pressing process, pores, cracks, and/or gaps in the veneer are filled with resin. In particular, the pressing process is carried out such that the veneer is saturated with resin, and the resin can be seen on the surface of the veneer after the pressing process. The adhesion of the veneer to the base and the smoothing of the veneer are thus carried out in one operation.

Disclosed is waterproofing sheeting that uses a polyester layer that provides high lateral stability and puncture resistance. The waterproof sheeting can be used in many applications including waterproof roof underlayments waterproof sheeting for foundations, underlayment for tile and flooring and various other applications. The waterproof sheeting can be manufactured without many of the problems associated with the granular coatings of existing waterproof sheeting that create excessive wear and environmental hazards.

A method for improving the heat sealability of a packaging material and a method for manufacturing a heat-sealed container or package are described. The material can be polymer-coated packaging paper or cardboard, or a polymeric packaging film. The material includes a polymer layer that contains polyester, particularly polylactide, the heat sealability of which is improved by ultraviolet radiation. Polylactide is useful as such or when blended, for example, with other biodegradable polyester. The containers and packages thus manufactured include disposable drinking cups and cardboard carton and box packages.

A process and an apparatus for building tyres and a tyre for vehicle wheels are described. A substantially cylindrical carcass sleeve, having at least one carcass ply, is formed by laying consecutively adjacent strip-like elements one after the other around the circumferential extension of a substantially cylindrical deposition surface. Circumferentially consecutive strip-like elements are laid one after the other to form overlap zones along respective longitudinal edges superimposed on each other. Each overlap zone has, along a longitudinal extension thereof, terminal sections that are laterally opposite with respect to an intermediate section. The intermediate section of each overlap zone has greater width than the width of the terminal sections.
