A high-hat cymbal stand comprises a pedal (29) movable between an upraised start position and a lowered position and connected to a cymbal moving rod (31) being movable lengthwise by movement of the pedal (21) between its positions. A first cymbal (32a) is attached to the rod for being moved by the rod (31) as the rod moves lengthwise whereas a second cymbal (32b) being held in position on the stand for being struck by the first cymbal (32a) as it is moved by the pedal (21) and rod (31) to the lowered position of the pedal. A spring (27) is connected with the pedal (21) for returning the pedal to the start position and for correspondingly moving the pedal (21), the rod (31) and the first cymbal together. The spring (27) for returning the pedal (21) to its upper position is disposed in a container (28, 29) which is clampable to the stand (24) at selected vertical heights. The pedal (21) is raised until it contacts the bottom (29a) of the adjustable spring container (28. 29) whereby the height of the start position of the pedal (21) is adjustable. Independently, the tension of the spring (27) in the spring container (28, 29) is adjustable. The spring container (28, 29) is located next to and parallel to the rod (31) connecting a movable cymbal (32) to the pedal (21).
