This invention relates to a novel class of substituted dihydroimidazo [1,2-α] quinoxaline derivatives of the formula

group wherein R 4 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, and R 6 is C 1 -C 8 alkyl, ami- nome-
thyl, pyridinyl, phenyl, halophenyl or a
group wherein R 8 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl; R 2 is phenyl or substituted phenyl having 1 or 2 substituents selected from the class consisting of halo or C 1 -C 6 alkoxy; R 3 is hydrogen or halogen; and
and to pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds. The compounds and compositions are effective as anti-anaerobic agents.
