Disposable liquid absorbent garments such as diapers having elastic grip regions comprise a liquid impervious outer layer, a liquid pervious inner liner and an intermediate absorbent layer. The outer layer is an elastomeric film blend of thermoplastic ethylene polymer and olefinic elastomer which is oriented except for local areas of reduced orientation and increased elasticity which constitute the grip regions.
