A milking implement for animals, such as cows, comprises one or more teat cups (14) which can be attached to the teats (31) of an animal's udder. During intervals between milking the part of the milking implement that is not used for milking is utilized for supplying a liquid or air to the teats (31) of the animal. Specifically, liquid or air can be supplied between the teat (31) of the animal and the teat holder (33) of the teat cup (14) connected to said teat.
