New polysaccharide derivatives useful for the separation of optical isomers, prepared by substituting at least one atomic group of formula (1), (2) or (3) for part or the whole of hydrogen atoms of the hydroxyl or amino groups of the polysaccharide. In the formulae R is a group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms and at least one center of asymmetry.
