An indan derivative represented by general formula (1) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R¹ represents C₁ to C₁₂ alkyl, benzyl, styryl, naphthyl, optionally substituted phenyl or optionally substituted thienyl; R² represent carboxyl, C₁ to C₄ alkoxycarbonyl (2), or (3); Y represents -(CH₂) p - (wherein p represents an integer of 0 to 5), -CO-(CH₂) q ∼ or CH(OH)-(CH₂) q ∼ (wherein q represents an integer of 1 to 4, and symbol ∼ represents a linkage to R²), oxymethylene or ethylene; and n represents an integer of 1 to 4. This compound antagonizes the action of thromboxane A₂ so potently that it can be utilized to treat or prevent diseases caused by thromboxane A₂, such as angiosis, vascular twitch or asthma.
