A submerged scraper for round settling pools is provided with a scraping device designed as a scraping shield (8) which extends approximately in the radial direction, sweeps over the bottom (2) of the round settling pools and is rotatively driven. The drive engages the outer or inner side of the scraping shield (8) in the radial direction by means of a toothed ring (11) and is provided only for rotating the scraping shield (8). The scraping shield (8) and a frame (10) associated thereto constitute a module arranged under water. Instead of the scraping shield (8) a driven transversal conveyor may also be provided.
