A card reader for collecting or forwarding information made available by or for a card (10) is designed in such a way that it can be mounted on and mechanically and electrically connected to a printed circuit board (40). The card reader is characterised in that the sections (31; 24, 32; 25, 26, 27, 33, 34) of the card reader provided to establish a mechanical connection between the card reader and the printed circuit board are spaced apart from the sections (23) of the card reader to be brought into electric contact with the printed circuit board.
