Disclosed is a lock with ratchet or latch locking elements for a vehicle rear door or a rear hatch provided with a window wiper, comprising an electrical motor (12) to remove the ratchet, possibly by actuating an intermediate lever (5), while a transmission is located in the rear so as to be built into the rear hatch fitted with a window wiper (4) driven by an electric motor. In order to reach a higher level of integration and simplification, it is suggested that the window wiper motor be used as an electric motor (12) and operatively coupled with the ratchet/latch and/or the intermediate lever (5).
