A regulator (3a) regulates the current flowing through a coil (113) and generates for that purpose regulating signals for a power regulator (5a). The regulating signals are determined when the coil (113) is operated in a free running mode. During the displacement of the armature, the regulating signals depend on the current and the conductance in time of the current through the coil (113).
