The present invention relates to a method for monitoring the exploitation process of an apparatus as well as to a self-service device monitored according to said method. An optical model-recognition method is used for detecting uniquely, or together with an object handled when using an apparatus, a way to handle said apparatus which corresponds to the apparatus exploitation process and for comparing the same to a predetermined model.
