A method for drying and producing microporous particles containing fluid. The fluid-containing particles that are to be dried are transported in the form of a moving-bed in a counter-flow to a drying fluid. When the pressure of the fluid becomes near critical or supercritical, the interfacial tension of said fluid is reduced, preferably to a value ranging from 0-1/10, especially from 0-1/20 of the interfacial tension at room temperature. The invention also relates to a method for the production of microporous, cross-linked particles by producing microporous fluid-containing particles, replacing the porous fluid contained in said particles with a fluid and by drying the particles containing the liquid. Fluid replacement and drying is carried out in a moving bed in a counterflow.
