The invention relates to a wind-stopping device (14) for motor vehicles, comprising a wind-stopping element (20), a fixing device (32) for the wind-stopping element (20), which can be mounted in such a way that it engages in a receiving area (34) of a vehicle body (12), and on which the wind-stopping element is mounted in such a way that it can be moved from an active position in which it projects over a belt line (22) of the vehicle body into an inactive position in which it is located essentially inside an outer contour of the vehicle body, and vice versa. The aim of the invention is to improve a wind-stopping device of this type in such a way that the wind-stopping element no longer has to be manually moved from the inactive position to the active position and vice versa. To this end, the inventive wind-stopping element (20) can be moved between the inactive position and the active position by means of a lifting device (62, 64) which is provided with an electric drive.
