In order to obtain an optimum from the driver's desire to brake, the vehicle stabilization, the maneuverability of the vehicle, and from the pedal and sound comfort, the invention provides that the brake pressures are altered on at least one wheel. The brake pressures are altered according to an influence of an engaging unit, said influence being determined by the brake pressure effected by the driver, which provides a plurality of influence cycles or influence strategies.
