A modular reader assembly (10), with a unitary wire frame construction is provided. A pair of eyeglass lenses (46, 48) are releasably engageable with the frame assembly (10) by use of a spring-biased wire frame material. Each of the lenses (46, 48) are secured in place by at least three contact points at notches (54, 56, and 58) positioned at the inner, upper and outer edges of the lenses (46, 48). Lenses of different sizes, configurations, thicknesses and powers are easily accommodated even where the sizes and configurations of the lenses differ between the left and right eyes.
