In known high-temperature sensors, the operating temperature in the functional layer of the sensor cannot be accurately adjusted or measured nor exactly regulated. The novel device aims at enabling exact adjustment of the operating temperature on the entire surface of the functional layer. In order to exactly regulate the operating temperature on the entire functional layer, the heating conductor path that is disposed beneath the functional layer is structured in such a way that it comprises different partial heat resistors in the different regions by varying the length of the paths and/or the width of the heating conductor path vary from one partial section to another. Said devices are especially high-temperature gas sensors that are used in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
