A side wall (4) of the mixing chamber (2) can be provided with an opening (16) through which material to be mixed (20) can be introduced into the mixing chamber (2). The loading unit (9) can pivot between a first position near the floor on which the device is present, and a second position, wherein the loading unit (9) at least partially closes said opening (16).
