摘要：
A device and a method for judging the advancing direction, along a disk radius direction, of a light spot formed on the signal recording surface of an optical disk comprising two type of grooves having different depths formed along the recording tracks formed of lands. A judging unit judges the advancing direction of a main spot based on the binarized data of the difference signal of a main spot and the binarized data of the difference signal of a side spot, thereby it is possible to judge the advancing direction of a light spot with respect to a disk radius direction only by difference signals without using a sum signal.
